1. Data controller

The data controller is Vincent Diaz, private individual — Toulouse, France. For any question: hello@nearest.fr.

2. Data we collect

• Your account: username, e-mail address and password (stored hashed, never in clear text).
• Your animals: name, species, breed, sex, date of birth, photo and cover image, weight and weigh-ins, care and treatments, appointments, and the identification details you enter (microchip, passport, pedigree).
• Sharing: the accounts you choose to co-manage an animal with.
• Usage measurement: screen viewed, type of device and version of the application, and the technical errors encountered. These measurements contain neither your e-mail address, nor your identifier, nor your IP address: they rely on a randomly drawn device number, used to count distinct people without identifying them. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in running the service. You can object by writing to us.
• Technical logs: our host (OVH) keeps connection logs, for security and for the service to run properly.

3. What the application does not do

• It contains no advertising and no advertising tool.
• Your data is neither sold, nor rented, nor passed on for commercial purposes.
• Your location is not kept. The application does not track your movements and records no location history: if you allow it, your location stays on your device and is used only to show the weather and the advice of the day. The only location information recorded is the country and city a connection came from — an anonymous count, without your IP address or your identity.

4. How the data is used

Your data is used only to provide you with the service: showing your pets’ details, your care reminders and your weight tracking, securing your account and answering your messages. The usage measurement is used to check that the service works and to fix screens that cause trouble. No data is used to profile you or to send you offers.

5. Cookies

The service uses only one cookie, strictly necessary for signing in (the session). No advertising cookie is set.

6. Security and retention

Your data is stored in encrypted form, on our host OVH’s servers. It is kept for as long as your account is active, then erased with it. Usage measurement counters are purged after one year.

7. Your rights

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, port and object to the processing of your data. To exercise it, write to hello@nearest.fr. You may also lodge a complaint with the French supervisory authority, the CNIL (www.cnil.fr).

8. Deleting your account

You can delete your account at any time, directly in the application: Settings → Data management → Delete my account. Deletion permanently erases the account and everything it holds (animals, weigh-ins, treatments, appointments); it cannot be undone.

If you only want to keep the memory of an animal that has passed away, use “Report a passing” instead: the record and the history are kept in your memories.
